Want to quickly transfer your contacts, photos and other content from your iPhone to your Samsung Galaxy S5? Not sure how to transfer data from iPhone to Samsung Galaxy S5? Use the Smart Switch Mobile app.
It’s happened to the best of us. Your new phone arrives, you gleefully tear it out of the box, switch it on and start downloading new apps or playing with the S5’s fingerprint scanner. Then comes the bit where you need to figure out how to move all your content from your old phone onto the new. And when changing from iOS to Android the whole process can seem like even more of an ordeal.
That’s why Samsung have designed a tool that enables you to easily transfer information from iCloud back-ups onto your Galaxy S5 (or any other Galaxy device). All you need to do is follow these four simple steps…
Step One – Back-up your iPhone
First of all, back up all the information on your old iPhone to iCloud. Your phone probably does this automatically, but have a look at Apple’s iCloud back-up support if you’re not sure.
Step Two – Download the Smart Switch Mobile app
Once you’ve backed-up your iPhone, head over to the Play Store on your Galaxy S5 to install the free Samsung Smart Switch Mobile app. Once you’ve launched the app, select iCloud from the list of options.
Step Three – Choose what to Transfer
You’ll need to enter your Apple credentials so that Samsung can verify your account. Once you’ve done that you’ll be shown a list of recent backups for your iOS devices. Select the back-up you want to restore to your S5. After all your information has populated, you’ll be able to choose what you want transferred over to your S5. You’ll be able to see how much information is in each category, so if you don’t want to clog up your new phone with hundreds of old photos and apps, you can just transfer over your contacts.
Step Four – Start the Transfer
When you’ve selected which data you want to transfer, hit the ‘Import’ button. Samsung will do the rest. This process may take a while, especially if you’ve got a lot of data to import, but there’s no need to sit and watch it. The app will alert you once it’s finished and show you all the data that has been successfully imported. When you’re done you can delete the app from your S5 and carry on playing with your new toy.
