Best Galaxy Note 2 Replacement Battery: Anker 3100mAh review

Best Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Replacement Battery: Anker 3100mAh with Wall Charger review

| On 04, Apr 2013

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is known for its excellent battery life, but it’s always handy to carry some extra power around with you. With this in mind I did a bit of research to find the best Galaxy Note 2 replacement battery that I could online.

My Hunt for the Best Galaxy Note 2 Replacement Battery

I ordered Anker’s 2 x 3100mAh batteries which came with a “free wallcharger”. It arrived the next day in some compact and eco-friendly packaging. No space wasted and no long-winded and confusing set up. Just ready to go after some plastic removal. Spare batteries have many advantages over battery power packs:

1) Battery packs are often quite large and heavy, while phone batteries are small and discreet
2) It looks a bit weird when you have loads of cables coming out of your pockets
3) Using your device heavily at a low battery % heavily (this probably equates to 99% of the time battery packs are used) can stress the battery, reducing the battery’s life in the long term
4) Buying extra batteries will give better battery performance over a longer period of time (by merit of you using 1 battery for less of the over all time)
5) If you want to learn more about how Li-Ion batteries work and how to get the most out of them: then Battery University is one of the best resources on the web!

Why Anker?

Being slightly too dubious to get one of those dodgy-looking-batteries-whose-price-is-too-good-to-be-true from eBay, I opted to pay not that much more for a set of 2x 3100mAh batteries from Anker. After all, I wasn’t looking for the cheapest product I could find; I was looking for the best Galaxy Note 2 replacement battery.

The total cost was around £12 ($18/€15), which is very resonable considering Samsung’s official single battery and charging dock is almost three times that cost. I’ve always been impressed with Anker as a company: they provide excellent batteries and other peripherals at a very reasonable price. I think it’s also fair to say that their customer service is great, and they will go out of their way to help you if you have a problem.

What’s in the Box?

• 2 x Anker 3100 mAh batteries
• 1 x Wall Charger
• 1 x Universal – UK socket adaptor
• Warranty/Information pamphlets

The free wallcharger has hinged US pins on it, which I assume would sit flush against a socket if you live over that way. As I’m a UK resident, Anker provided a Universal plug–>UK adapter in the package. This is great as those things normally cost a fortune to buy on their own, but it does stick out from the wall a bit. That sort of thing doesn’t really bother me, as the usefulness far outweighs the aesthetics.

Anker Wall Charger

The Anker wallcharger is a fantastic addition to the batteries: it allows you to charge one of your spares outside of the device. It charges the batteries slightly slower than the Galaxy Note 2 does, which might sound annoying, but in the long run – this will ensure that your long-term battery life is preserved for as long as possible.

Anker 3100mAh Battery for Galaxy Note 2: Battery Performance

The 3100mAh Anker batteries perform exceptionally well in the Galaxy Note. I’ve been using the batteries for a few months now, rotating them with the original Samsung battery for the Galaxy Note 2 and still cannot notice a difference between them. The batteries show no noticeable battery life decay, random restarting, over heating, exploding or anything like that here – these are good quality batteries, and I would highly recommend them as a replacement or spare for the Galaxy Note 2

As good as it gets

At a fantastic price, these 3100mAh batteries from Anker are as good as the "genuine" Samsung batteries at a fraction of the cost and come with the bonus of a wall-charging unit. There's nothing not-to love here! Although there aren't many smartphones that can outlast a Galaxy Note - until batteries last over a week on single charge - I'm not going to give them 10/10!

Great review- well written, and you really addressed many of the concerns buyers of third party batteries might have. PS- yes the US plugs sit flush against the wall in north america.

Do you still feel this way? I need a battery, and had gotten one about 2 mos. ago that was listed as OEM, but I highly doubt it now. My phone is not holding a charge at all, and the battery is bulging.
